On 18 February 2024, Beaufort Street came alive with Inglewood Blooms, a Lunar New Year celebration led entirely by South-East Asian organisers, business owners and facilitators. This was a full circle moment for festival producer Bec Nguyen, whose parents – Vietnamese refugees – were instrumental in establishing one of Perth’s most popular Vietnamese Lunar New Year celebrations in the 1990s. Three decades later, Inglewood Blooms proudly honoured that legacy while creating a new, contemporary space for Asian voices, culture and enterprise.
