Philanthropic
A Child's RITE App Project
A Child’s RITE is a philanthropic initiative created by mothers with lived experience navigating health systems for their children. The project set out to design a digital tool that provides families with accessible, meaningful support shaped directly by lived experience.
UX/UI Role
User interviews – conducted with 12 parents from diverse backgrounds (including families from rural, remote, metro and international contexts) to capture needs, challenges, and priorities
Workshops – facilitated co-design and brainstorming sessions with parents and carers to explore features and map the user journey
Feature prioritisation – used structured activities to identify and agree on the most valuable and feasible functions for families
Prototyping – created UX concepts in Figma to visualise ideas and bring the design to life
User testing – prepared for follow-up testing to validate usability and refine the prototype based on real family feedback
Next Steps
The prototype has been completed and is now being shared with families for feedback. The next phase will focus on refining the design through user testing and securing funding to develop the platform into a full digital tool.
Outcomes
The design process ensured the tool was grounded in the lived experiences of parents, making it empathetic, accessible, and practical. The prototype provides a strong foundation to move into build and delivery, with clear evidence of need and user-centred design at its core.
